Does visible inventory mean an item is reserved?
Short answer
No. It can say two tickets are currently visible and explain that availability may change. A hold requires a host record with an expiry; ownership requires successful payment and issuance.
Why this goes wrong
Customer language often treats availability and possession as one step. A model mirrors that language and says ‘your tickets’ before any transaction creates that relationship.
How Tonetify handles it
Activity can make inventory-related events usable, Govern constrains the answer, and Relay delivers it in order. The ticketing host remains the only system that can hold inventory or issue tickets.
Before you implement
- 01Name the current inventory state
- 02Include hold expiry when one exists
- 03Use payment as the authority
- 04Avoid possessive language before issuance
